Alexandra Ivanciu is an artist living and working in Leipzig, Germany. She collaborates with various Museums, Cultural Institutions and Art Spaces from the Leipzig art scene such as GfZK, D21 Kunstraum, RE:Mapping Leipzig, Offener Prozess.
She graduated from the Postgraduate Program (Meisterschüler*in Studium)at the Academy of Arts in Leipzig with Prof. Tina Bara, photography class. She did her BA and MA at the University of Arts in Bucharest, the Department of Photography and Dynamic Image, with Prof. Iosif Kiraly. She mainly focuses on collaborative practices based on solidarity and artistic friendship, being part of the HAZY BORDERS collective and working on several projects together with Jolanta Nowaczyk.
Her artistic practice is a fusion between video-performance, installation and photography. She is interested in the body’s trajectory between the social and political issues in nowadays society, approaching topics such as the politics of gender, feminism, decoloniality, and the queer or female herstories existing outside the colonial West. She aims at overcoming the boundaries of the art space in order to actively contribute to society’s needs.
